Hi - what sort of training are you going to be doing?


Gym work at the moment ~ cardio and resistant weights.  What about you?  Is this your first trip like this?

At the moment it's gym and cycling - I've a couple of half marathons lined up in May,, but injury is preventing me from running. I did Kili last year, but didn't quite get to the top - mainly as I'd been ill a couple of weeks before the trek - so I had no option but to go for it again this year. I plan to do some walking in the lakes and snowdon during June and July in preparation. How about you - any walks planned?


I'm having a few "kiliwobbles" at the moment ~ things like what kit to take and not to take and also will my fitness be enough!!!  Am on holiday for the next couple of weeks and so have upped the gym work.  Have you got any key tips or advice that you would give? 


Test that all your kit works is the most important thing - footwear being most important - and make sure you have fresh socks and warm clothes for the summit night. If you're reasonably fit then you should be ok. You can't really train for the altitude in the UK - People react differently to the altitude, regardless of fitness levels and age, but some long route hillwalking will help you prepare for the physical challenge. There are some good kit lists on the web, inclusing on the exodus site.
