This was a great tour of Peru. Seeing the giant river otters at the ox bow lake next to the Tambopata River was very special. The Inca Trail was everything I had hoped it would be and a lot more as well. I was really pleased that our schedule on the Inca Trail was much more relaxed than some of the others on the trail at the same time as us. We were able to enjoy the trek and not have to get up at a ridiculous time on a morning to try and rush to Machu Pichu on the last day. We arrived at Machu Pichu at around 4.30pm and it was really quiet, with only around 20 other visitors there. We then stayed in the little town at the bottom of the mountain and were able to go back to Machu Pichu the next morning to have the full guided tour. The Peruvian people we met were friendly, the tour was pretty packed with lots to do, the hotels and lodges were nice and I would certainly go back again.
An active holiday with like minded people, very varied and in the main well planned and informative. High light was the trek and arrival at Machu Picchu, given the facilities the porter's and chief done an excellant job. On the downside the toilet tent on the trek was grim, three quarters of the party were ill at some stage, fortunately not ourselves. Some of the trip could have been less touristy.
