We had booked to go to Varena for this week but unfortunately not enough people wanted to do that, which is a shame because northern Italy had the best snow. So we were transferred to Pertisau, a centre we had been to on three previous occasions, the last being in 2007 when there was no snow at the beginning of our week at all and rather a lot at the end.
Actually went in January. Very sociable and supportive group. Discussions about the London Underground system and School Governors have never been so well informed. Weather was mixed, my suntan lotion was not needed. Lost a day's skiing because it was raining / snowing too much - Some us us used the local bus to go on the culture trail in Vicenza. But we did get five full days skiing on interesting tracks.
The trip surpassed all my expectation from the location and the quality of the lodge to the drivers, guides and of course the sightings of the tigers was truly wonderful. The other great touch was the cricket match with the school which gave the group another point of interest halfway through the tirp and also provided some fond memories of our short interaction with a lovely community, not to mention the good work of exodus in putting something back to where it matters.
