Adventure Holidays in the Philippines

Go beyond the beaches and discover the adventurous side of these idyllic islands

Tours in the Philippines

Picture a cluster of over 7000 verdant islands thrusting upwards from glittering sapphire waters: this is the Philippines. Rice terraces form a lush green carpet over the countryside, smouldering volcanoes stretch towards clear skies, white-sand beaches border secluded lagoons, and massive networks of caves and tunnels run beneath it all.

This elegant archipelago is also one of the most diverse places on the planet, both in terms of wildlife and ethnicity. On Philippines holidays, explore the geological wonderland of El Nido, the rich countryside of North Luzon and the thriving capital of Manila, as well as the volcanic crater lake of Mount Pinatubo. From exquisite beaches to an 8km subterranean river, with tropical forests, volcanic craters and emerald rice terraces in-between, the scenery is never short of exceptional.

Philippines Adventure Holidays

Highlights of Philippines trips

1. Colourful transport: The eye-catching Jeepneys, old US military vehicles left behind after the Second World War, are colourfully decorated by their drivers with plenty of kitsch, religious icons and irreverent slogans.

2. El Nido’s secret lagoons: Luminescent blue water scattered with many hundreds of islands and limestone outcrops of rock. Here, karst cliffs rise dramatically from the water, and there are many secret beaches and idyllic lagoons tucked away out of sight.

3. Walking on Mount Pinatubo: An active volcano, located in the Cabusilan Mountains, it last erupted in 1991. At the crater summit you’re rewarded with views of the crater lake and its deep turquoise colour.

4. Ancient rice terraces of Banaue: Built by the Ifugao tribes and stretching as far as the eye can see, the green terraces were carved out by generations of traditional farmers. More than 2000 years old, they remain one of Asia’s most spectacular sights.

5. Puerto Princesa Subterranean River: We make our way through a 8.2km navigable river that winds through a series of fantastic caves, cathedral chambers and stunning geological formations by boat.
