An excellent trip, lots of time to acclimatise in Leh and brilliant trekking, not too challenging but stunningly beautiful. The Indus rafting trip was stunning and good fun
Arriving at the passes and the views from the top-also the jeep ride up the highest navigable road was worth it for the peace and clam and amazing views from the top.
Scram was amazing well informed, sense of humour and was totally patient and lovely the whole time. Felt very secure with him as a guide-brilliant hight commended.
Its warmer than I expected-ensure that you get 15 cm sleeping mattresses-we just had a flimsy 1cm bit of plastic insulation!
Great trek, very clean and peaceful.
If you are looking for a mix of culture, language and stunning scenery, this is the trip for you! Supported throughout by an experienced team (from chef to leader to spotting Snow Leopard footprints and even excitement), this trail will weave its wave deep into the recesses of your heart and mind, nourishing soul and body!
Meeting local people as well as rafting down the Indus- both utterly captivating and all done under safe guidance.
Very good, stable and well able to handle the range of characters and backgrounds which inevitable make up a group of adults! (All with their own ideas on how things ought to be done!)
Read the trip notes carefully! They are very good! If you do this you will bring along the right footwear, clothing and be well prepared to meet most things which might cross your path: literally and metaphorically!
I cannot recommend the trip highly enough! The group comprised experienced walkers and almost complete novices, yet all enjoyed the sights, experiences and our needs were speedily met if there were any concerns e.g. altitude sickness which nobody an predict.
This trip is a fantastic mixture of trekking and culture. Scenic trails follow streams and pony tracks in the valleys, with fantastic panoramic views of the Himalayas once you reach the top of a pass. The monasteries we visited were stunning and there is also time to explore the traditional villages once we reach camp.
A big mix of age and characters in the group - the group got on very well, had a laugh and always looked out for one another.
Pasang made every effort to look after anyone who felt unwell. He remained professional in the mountains and was good humoured. The camp staff were excellent - cooking up lots of great food and making sure that we could relax on camp.
The optional rafting was excellent - wetsuits are provided if you prefer to wear one of those over your costume rather than clothes.
Although luggage allowance was more relaxed from Delhi to Leh, it was very strict on the way back due to take off at altitude. You can pay for extra luggage however. Non-trek items can be left at the hotel in Delhi or Leh.
Take it easy on your first day in Leh - some of us were surprised that we were out of breath during a 5 minute stroll to the shop.
India has delicious food to cater for all preferences but, like anywhere in the world, hygiene is important. Keeping your hands well washed before eating, staying as hydrated as possible and sticking to bottled water is the best protection against an upset tum. Otherwise, mashed potato is apparently a good cure!
