Arctic Sweden & Icehotel

Looking forward to seeing who else is on the trip! And trying to work out how fit you need to be to do an 8km snow shoe!

Hey Tigs! When are you going on this trip? Me & my boyfriend are going on 9th February. Just wondering if anyone else is going then? :-)

Hi there! Yes we are also going 9th Feb! We will be joining the group on the flight to Kiruna as we are flying from Manchester. Been waiting for this trip for so long and now its only a few months away. Can't wait.

Hey Tigs! I know I'm so excited! Was it much more to book flights from Manchester? We are from Liverpool so that would have been a lot handler for us! Where are you from? Have you ever been to Sweden before or done a trip like this before?

Hi Ali, I think it was actually cheaper to fly from Manchester :-) we fly to Copenhagen and from there a cinnecting flight to Stockholm which is where we meet up with you guys on the flight to Kiruna. On the way back we are also staying for a couple of days in Stockholm before flying back direct to Manchester. Trailfinders organised it for us so we didn;t have to work out all the logistics ourselves, and they get good bargains on fights etc. Kate and I are from Blackpool and we have never done anything like this before!! We are wondering if we are fit enough for the 8KM snow shoe! It was the husky mushing which sold us. Cannot wait for that :-)  We are getting lists together of what we need.....just purchased our sleeping bags! It is difficult to be sure what to take when you have not done something like this before. I doubt Amazon deliver!

Hey Tigs! I changed our flights to Manchester now, it was only £50 to change them but saves the massive drive there & back! Our flights from Manc are 9.45am on 9th. When are yours? We are staying an extra night in Stockholm on the way back but I've just booked the Clarion Hotel at the airport on the way back because our flight is 7.35am the next morning. There is a train that goes to the city from the airport so at least we can go there for dinner that night! Yeah me & Charles have never done anything like this before either, I have always wanted to though so it's taken me a few years to save up for us both to go! Haha I hope we are fit enough for the 8km snow shoe too!! I dunno how difficult walking in snow shoes is but I reckon it's not easy! Should be a laugh though if it is horrendous & we are all half dead! :-D but yeah the husky sleds sold me too & the ice hotel! We are doing a wilderness meal that night so not with the group. They take you out into the wilderness for a 3 course meal & a chance to see the northern lights! I've not even started planning my what to take list but I'll be raiding Go Outdoors soon! Are you guys taking a suitcase or a huge back pack for all your stuff?

Hi there Ali, our flight is 10:10 on the 9th from T1. All our flights are with Scandinavian airlines. we are staying at the First Reisen in Stockholm, the train from the airport takes about 34 mins. You will have to watch some YouTube clips of snow shoe, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I can ski but Kate can’t. I’m not sure being able to ski is any advantage!! That wilderness me sounds fabulous. Was that something you booked with the tour? We will probably take suitcases. Whatever can fit the most in!
