Anyone going?

Anyone going on this tour on 12 October?

Yes I'm going on this trip - I understood that there are about 16 of us? Just got my visa and really looking forward to this trip.

It should be fascinating. I worked. In Southern India in 2095/6 but have never visited the North. Are you flying out from the UK to join the trip?

Yes I'll be flying out from London. I've never been to India before, so it'll be an experience.

Hello, I am also going on this trip!! Just had my E-Visa confirmed.  Did either of you use the E-Visa process?  I am so excited for the trip. I have never been before but always wanted to go.

I am also looking forward to this trip. I have been looking at You Tube clips of the tour and it looks amazing.

I used the E-Visa process but unfortunately I was scammed since I obtained mine via a third party. Their website was almost identical to the official site. It cost  me  about £30 more than I should have paid. I have checked since via the official site that the visa issued to me is genuine.  All a bit embarrassing since as part of my job I teach basic IT security

!Not long to go

Hello both - I just got a regular tourist vis (not e-visa) for a year as I may get the chance to go again next year.  I didn't think of looking at You-Tube - I'll do that.

Anyone  fancy meeting at Teminal 4 before we board the aircraft? I have booked a place in the Skyteam Lounge in departures at Terminal 4. I booked it using Holiday Extras and with their discount it was only a£26.40. Food , drink wifi, showers etc all included. I always do this when going on holiday:  a civilised way to start the journey away from the chaos that is the rest of T4. If anyone fancies joining me there then just let me know.

If you do decide to book the lounge, a couple of things to look out for - make sure you google airport lounges discount codes and enter the Holiday Extra site via the link, if you go directly onto the Holiday Extras site you will not get the  discount and will pay  £30 instead of £26.40. Only a  small saving but better in my pocket!

The other thing to watch out for is that  thrre are two  T4 lounges on sale on the Holiday Extras site - I booked the Skyteam Lounge NOT  the Plaza Premium Lounge.

See you all soon

John

.

Hi,  Thanks for letting me know about the lounge. I shall have a look into it, although I normally spend my time browsing the shops.

I have a quick question.  Approximately, how much money are people planning on taking with them? I am debating how much, as I dont want to be left short as I plan on purchasing local nic nacs.

I am getting quite exctied now!!! Only a couple of weeks to go :)

Hi Lucy,

i wii probably  take about £500  in cash. If I need any more then ATMs are fairly plentiful in India.

I am counting down the days, not long now.

Hello Taff and Lucy,

Thank you for the lounge info, but I also like having a browse around the shops...

As for money - I'm a bit confused - I thought that I read we are not allowed to take money into India, but friends have told me this is ignored?

Hi guys,

as I understand it, the Indian rupee is a closed currency and should not be bought outside India. However, an Indian colleague tells me this is often  ignored. I am not going to risk importing any because it would be just my luck to be spot checked by customs. .

Enjoy  your shopping at the airport, my idea of hell, but each to their own!

see you all in India, only a couple of weeks to go.

Hi,

Thanks for the messages.  I was planning on taking sertling, as like Taff, I thought you could only purchase rupees in India.  I am assuming that there will be time when we are all off the plane to do this.

I think I am all prepared for the trip now, just purchased a travel adapter.  Now, just need to make sure I pack enough clothes for the trip but not too much as I feel I will need baggage allowance for my nic nacs.  Just checking that the baggage allowance is 20kg?

I am looking forward to meeting you both.  Only 14 days to go!!!!!!

Thought I would say a quick hello! October has come round so quick. Really looking forward to the trip and meeting everyone.

I think it is 20kg Lucy. Like you, I will be leaving space to buy a few things.

See you all next week!

Hi  Bethany

look forward to meeting you and the others next week.
