Indochina Grand Tour any takers?

Anyone else booked on this trip?

Yep. I'm very much looking forward to it now, sorting out arrangements and stuff.

Hi David,

We are really excited about the trip and especially getting away  from the British winter. So much so that we are arriving early & leaving later than the tour dates. Our flights are with Emirates and  we leave Blighty on 5th December & return 11th January. Never been to this part of the world before and very intrested in culture & history. Looking forward to meeting you in December.

Regards Rosie & Sandy

This is my first leisure / culture tour with Exodus so I am not sure what to expect, especially in the evenings. I am a solo traveller this time (one of at least 5 on our trip). I am travelling out on the group flight with Malaysia Airways, but staying for a couple of days in Siem Reap at the end. I've never been to this part of Asia before.

This will be our second trip with Exodus. We went to South Africa in January. On our Garden Route adventure there were 14 of us, with 5 solo travellers, the group was mature people , average age approx 55+ ( I would guess),  sociable and good fun. The activity level was 1, so very laid back.

We ate our evening meal with the group almost every night and bearing in mind it was a much shorter trip than Indochina. I would expect if some people  didn't want to eat together it  wouldn't cause a problem.

All in all I can wholeheartedly recommend Exodus and the way they organised our first holiday. We are confident this trip will be a great success too.

Hi. I've travelled with Exodus before a number of times, but always to remote trekking places. The groups eats where it stays in places like that, so I'm not used to having a choice. :)

This is a long and fairly expensive trip all in so I think it will probably be a mature group too. I'm 53. Having some evenings out, socialising with a group sounds great. It'll be nice to meet everyone in Bangkok.

I'm pretty much organised already: I've some dollars for visas, my seats on the planes are booked, Heathrow and Kuala Lumpur hotel rooms sorted ... I'm just wondering whether to take a notepad pc, and what to do about any malaria risk.

Hi David,

I'm the other Wilder half. Loads of info on insect bite management. Best thing is not to get bitten so use recommended repellents. See you Dr. for other types and malaria protection. Nets and suitable clothing. But as I said have a look on this site  the WHO and talk to your doc. Looking forward to meeting you. getting close now.

Heyup. I'm just going to rely on DEET spray I think. What about you? I've taken malarone in the past when the risk has been higher as there's no side effects for me but it's not cheap.

I've put my bag aside now and started adding stuff to it, which helps build the excitement for the trip. :)  I'm used to packing technical clothing for Exodus trips but I guess this will be mostly teeshirts.

Any idea how many people are on our trip?

Hi,

Understand there are 14 now booked on. You can do the required visas online have you done them or are you waiting to do them on the trip?

Hi. I intended doing all of them at the point of entry for this trip. Hope that's okay!

My reading of the visa requirements is that we don't need one for Thailand, we can pay for one going into Laos on entry, we don't need one for Vietnam, and we can pay for one going into Cambodia on entry as we're going overland. Is that right?

Hi DJ,

have breakdown of group now. at present  14 people, 3 couples/pairs so 8 solos. 5 men 9 women. More or less evenly distributed through the 3 age groups 41-50, 51-60, 61 - 70 and one female 70+

5 weeks today and counting.....

That sounds like a great group. Normally, there are only four single supplement places available but I asked for a fifth and they made another available. That presumably means one lucky solo traveller gets a single room for free. They owe me a beer :)

Am really really excited. This is my 3rd Exodus trip and longest.  I have never been away from my family for such a long time but cant wait and the age group is really good, Not packed yet but have things in place and just need to put it together.

Count down begins...

Hi Michele. Welcome aboard!

.Helllo Michele. Yes it's getting close now, I have a countdown timer on my phone & the days keep rolling away. In fact we start our adventure a few days earlier with a 3 night stopover in Dubai. Looking forward to meeting you & having a long dreamed of alternative festive season.  See you in Bangkok!

Im also looking forward to this, im  39 year old male from NZ. where abouts are you all from? is anyone continuing a stay in Cambodia or going back to Thailand after the tour?

I arrive a couple of days early so if anyone else is there early would be good to meet up and have a beer
