We include bob-raft and taxi-bob. Skeleton optional.Bob-rafting: A basic box-shaped bobsleigh with foam sides, and slower wooden runners for use on the standard ice bobsleigh track. It accommodates 5 passengers per trip and speeds reach 70-80 km/h. This is a good try-out to see if you are up for the Taxi-bob.Taxi-bob: This is the real thing, just like you see in the Olympic games. The taxi-bob is driven by an authorised pilot and takes three passengers per trip. You will reach speeds of 120 km/h and forces of almost 5-G. Entitling you to a bob-certificate and you become a member of the 5-G club. Optional Skeleton: A skeleton is the type of one-man sledge where you lie (head facing downhill) on your stomach. You will reach speeds of up to 70 km/h - with your nose 1 cm from the ice. This is guaranteed to get your adrenaline flowing! Depending on group size we will split into teams and have a go at one of Great Britains most successful Winter Olympic sports - it's a lot harder than it looks! Meals included: Breakfast Day 3 Morning airboarding in Lillehammer. Afternoon transfer to Hafjell ski area (10 mins) for downhill skiing or tobogganing (both optional) Morning airboarding: This fast-paced activity takes place at the Olympic Park towards the base of the ski jump and a real adrenalin kick. An airboard is a large plastic mattress filled with air. Which you ride head first down the outrun in the Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena, moving further up the hill on each run as you start to feel more confident. In the afternoon you may wish to take the short transfer to Hafjell ski area (10 mins) for downhill skiing (optional). Non-skiers can remain in the Olympic park for tobogganing, or return to Lillehammer for shopping, or a swim at the local pool. Reviewed February 2019 Neil Rollinson Trip: Lillehammer Bobsled Weekend Great adventue Great trip no stop fun in a lovely little town. Great to expereance the thrill of the Bob sled ride reaching 5G. Lots of nice places to eat and drink and plenty of winter activities to try. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Getting to ride the Bob sled on the Olympic track. What did you think of your group leader? Bente our group leader was fantastic from when we met at Oslo Airport to when she left us back there. Always making sure everyone was OK and booking us in restaurants and joining us for dinner. Bente was a lovey lady and very helpful could not fault her Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Just go out try everything on offer but take some drinks with you as Norway is expensive
Reviewed March 2015 Sarah Turner Trip: Lillehammer Bobsled Weekend Fantastic Trip What can I say about his trip? I was a little apprehensive prior to he trip as I had read several reviews detailing how the bobsledding was quite rough on your body due to 5G and up to 120kph speeds, I needn't have worried, it was probably the most exhilarating activity I have ever taken part in! It is fast but as long as you have a reasonable level of fitness you'll just enjoy the ride. This is however only a small (if indeed the main) event in a fantastic weekend. The tobogganing was superb and the airboarding on Sunday morning was possibly my favourite, as you got to experience several runs from various heights - providing you could keep climbing the steps to get back up!! What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? Watching members of my group take the skeleton down the bob track. I have nothing but admiration for those who were brave enough, I sadly wasn't that brave but if you have the guts I think it is an opportunity not to be missed. What did you think of your group leader? Bente was a fantastic leader. She was very knowledgeable about Lillehammer and the surrounding area and made the trip all the more memorable by ensuring the smooth running of all the activities. Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Do not hesitate to book this trip. I would go on the trip again in an instant. If you think it may be dangerous don't worry, as long as you follow he instructions from all of the instructors and drivers you will be fine. Is there anything else you would like to add? I would love to see a longer version of the trip. Lillehammer has all the facilities to take part in many other winter sports and I think a 5-6 day trip filled with bobsled, tobogganing, airboarding which the addition of downhill skiing, cross country skiing, curling, ice skating and husky trekking would be the most spectacular trip!
Reviewed April 2014 Alan Staniforth Trip: Lillehammer Bobsled Weekend LILLEHAMMER BOBSLED WEEKEND Bob sledging and tobogoning was brilliant. As this is the first time exodus has run this trip since 2008. I think that some thought needs to be done on filling up time from activities no longer included from 2008. As this was sold as an adrenalin filled weekend we found ourselfs sitting around a lot. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The bobsledging, Feeling the speed and the G force. What did you think of your group leader? Very knowledgable about her town. Do you have any advice for potential travellers? If you're planning on drinking, purchase from duty free on the way in. One beer = £10 a pint!!!!!! Reply from Exodus Reply from Exodus We were disappointed to read that Alan felt there was too much free time on this trip. We have taken this feedback on board and have now altered the schedule to ensure that groups get the most out of their time; we will now be offering air boarding - an exciting new activity perfect which we think will complement bobsledding. The trip notes have been updated to reflect these new changes. Simon Clifford - Product Manager for Norway
Reviewed January 2008 Anonymous Trip: Lillehammer Bobsled Weekend LILLEHAMMER BOBSLED WEEKEND This was a life long dream fulfilled, the best fun ever, I would do it again tomorrow, it is all that exodus say and more. What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? I suppose I expected the Bobsled to be 'toned down a bit for tourist', but not a bit, it was exaclty as it is in the olympics, and I was lucky enough to do it twice. The snowmobiles were great fun a full 2 hour guided run in woodland with crisp snow, everyone was really helpful and friendly and our Exodus guide was excellant, throughout. I am in my late 50's and loved every minute. What did you think of your group leader? Our group leader was great, he was local, so had helpful local knowledge, friendly without being overbearing, had a great sense of humour, and was also a paramedic which was reasuring considering the activity we were doing. Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Don't think your to old for this, just do it. Is there anything else you would like to add? The best fun I have had in years, just waiting for that call from the olympic bobsled team!!!!! A very well organised trip.
Reviewed October 2007 User Trip: Lillehammer Bobsled Weekend 5G What was the most inspirational moment of your trip? The reason for going on the trip was to go down the Olympic Bobsleigh run in Lillehammer. In the morning of the "big" day, it looked that it was cancelled. Fortunately, a driver was found. We went down the run twice, one practicve run and then the real thing. It was scary!! But it was an experience I would not have missed for the world. As a result of the problems in the morning we had a whole day skiing in Lillehammer the next day as compensation. Great snow, great runs, another fabulous day. What did you think of your group leader? It was his first trip on his own. lacked leadership. Do you have any advice for potential travellers? Go down the bobsleigh run. Become a member of the 5G club!
