Our leader Louis was excellent throughout the holiday. He even came to hospital with me when I was very unwell. Nothing was too much for him or the guides and porters we had on the trek. The trip is a fantastic way of seeing Burma as it is. There is the trek on the one hand which gets you as close to local people as you can hope for as a tourist. This is partly because life in the Chin Hills basically takes place out of doors and is not hidden away in people's houses. And so it is a small price to pay for the fairly basic lodgings we had on several of the nights during the trek. I also have to congratulate the local leaders in attempting to ensure that hygiene standards were kept as high as was possible in the circumstances.
The second part of this trip, the pagodas, temples, stupas etc. was simply mind-blowing. I have never seen such extraordinary beauty in any religious site before.
