Popular Walking holiday
Ski surrounded by the Italian Dolomites' jagged peaks. Departures December through to February.
Our trips are for active, flexible-minded people who enjoy the unusual and the adventurous. For trips that have an emphasis on Walking or Cycling, you need to remember that even the easiest walking or cycling involves some exertion, so you should be reasonably fit and sure that you will enjoy the activity, please see our walk grading or our cycling profile section. There will also be times when you will have to put up with temporary lack of civilised comforts, such as a piping hot shower, or ice in your drinks. However, if you crave off the beaten track destinations, and don't mind a healthy dose of the unexpected, then this may be for you.
Our aim, wherever possible, is to use accommodation that is in keeping with the area that we visit, local in character, and generally locally owned. Inevitably this means that in many places such accommodation does not match up to 'international' standards. Plumbing and hot water can occasionally be erratic, facilities are not generally of resort standard, and service, although friendly, may not be polished and professional. If you choose to travel on this type of holiday you must accept that this is all part of the experience.
All our groups are small, with stated minimum and maximum group sizes. The maximum size varies from 8 to 22, though it is usually 16. We feel that small groups provide a better social experience for you, and in many cases are essential to preserve the integrity of the more remote places that we visit.
Many different kinds of people travel with us. They may be 18 or 65 years old, of either sex, alone or with a friend, experienced travellers or complete beginners, but you can be reasonably sure that they will share an interest in travel and exploration, and have a similar attitude of mind. In any group, many participants are likely to have done an Exodus holiday before!
The majority of our holidays are aimed at adults, but some are suitable for teenagers or younger (F Coded Holidays). The minimum age is shown on each Holiday Overview page. We do not accept unaccompanied minors, and anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
In many countries that we operate in, transport facilities and regulations are not up to the standard of the EU, Australasia or North America. Where this is the case we attempt to ensure that all our transport complies with local regulations and standards, but we cannot guarantee the same standard as in the EU. If you choose to travel to these destinations, you must be prepared to accept the standard of transport that is available in the area.
