Cuba: La Isla Grande

Highly recommended trip!

This is a brilliant trip, covering the whole of this beautiful island. You get to see a variety of countryside, lovely old colonial towns and beaches, museums and mountains, and find out about the country's eventful history and (many) national heroes.

This was a fantastic trip, well structured, well organised, managed and implemented. It was non stop enjoyment from start to finish with a variety of activities as included on the itinerary and more besides. The driving was ( as stated) broken up with stops for lunch, swimming and drinking to rehydrate, but that said, the coach was always well equipped with bottled water.

Hola Cuba

The variety on this trip is fantastic. Yes there are long road journeys but the itinerary splits it up as well as possible and with coastal swim options a welcome relief. You get to learn about colonial Spain, the Revolution, USA intervention, current economics and politics, and experience the mountains and geology, the Caribbean and Atlantic coasts, as well as the music and dance that is notably Cuban. The cocktails are wonderful and the food much better than suggested - lobster on 3 occasions cannot be bad!

This holiday is an in-depth look at Cuba: its principal cities, its landscapes and its fascinating history and culture. The hotels were better than I had expected, with several nights in 4-star accommodation. Quite a few meals were included and those at privately-owned restaurants were very good,. Meals are not particuularly cheap in tourist restaurants.

A very comprehensive trip covering most of the key places except Vinales. There are lots of long days in the bus as the trip covers a large part of Cuba. Roads are not fast and there are many slow vehicles, bicycles, horse drawn vehicles in the country. The people are the real highlight. Despite the difficulties they experience on a daily basis, they seem resilient and cheerful and are welcoming to tourists.

Cuba: La Isla Grande

Isla de Cuba

5
This was a great trip, where we saw a lot of the island and got a really good feel for life in Cuba. The guide was great and gave us masses of information about the island's history and day to day living in Cuba and was not reticent to answer any questions that the group threw at him. We got to see such a lot in a relatively short space of time and loved every minute of it.

Isla grande..Cuba 2015

I think it would be very difficult to see so much of Cuba in 2 weeks by any other means. Of course, this implies a lot of travelling and living out of a suitcase which may not suit everybody. I really felt we had seen a lot of the "real" Cuba , both positive and negative. I was shocked by the living conditions in Baracoa, for example, but impressed by the way people dealt with their conditions, with beautifully turned out schoolchildren, and the pleasantness and welcome displayed by the people. Our guide was fantastic, good humoured, kind and always at hand ..by no means a 9 to 5 job. He was so enthusiastic and clearly loved his country.

This trip was well organized, with some very early starts and late finishes. Most evening meals were taken after 8.00 o’clock in the evening. Accommodation varied for very good to poor. This trip mostly concentrates on the Cuba revolution.

Excellent tour around Cuba, bringing together history with every day life. The long drive times are worth every minute for the scenery, the people, the music and the rum!
