Plenty of mayan sites to see plus the added bonus of some holiday time on the beach (you will need it). I was prepared for the long days travelling and I think it was worth it to be in more remote areas of Guatemala.

An amazing 2 weeks

We absolutely loved our trip! So much was crammed into the 2 weeks - be prepared for the long drives which are mentioned in the trip notes (we found some to be slightly longer than listed), but the travelling is a must if you are to fit in everything this trip has to offer. We loved the variety of places visited on the trip, with a good balance between Mayan ruins, colonial towns, lakes and beaches. The hotels were mostly very nice, the highlights were the hotel in the jungle in Palenque and the all inclusive hotel set on the beach in Tulum. The hotel in Belize was a bit of a disappointment.

This trip more than lived up to expectations. The Mayan sites are breathtaking, the scenery in places stunning, and the programme very varied - including wildlife spotting, snorkelling, etc, as well as the historical sites. There is a lot of driving, and some early starts, but it's not arduous.

Excellent sites - didn't know about Tikal before I went as was aware of Chichen Itza but this was amazing. Was aware before going that there would be long journeys but some were too long. Exodus need to look at day from Lake Atitlan to San Cristobal de las Casas as this was 12 hours - too long. Great companions on the trip.

Ruta Maya November 2014

This was a very enjoyable trip where all the participants got on well together. Although some of the mini-bus transfers were long the scenery and the towns and villages we passed through were great. Even when we were held up for more than an hour by local people blocking the road as a protest about health care added to the colour - we wish them well.

We Covered a lot of ground during this trip. I will remember long bus journeys, very early starts. The hotels were all ok, 2 more so. Clean and most staff in the hotels very welcoming and friendly. Mayan sites most interesting, all with local guides.

Woah - what a trip. A sensory overload of people, places and culture along with the anticipation of what might appear around the next corner. Whoever put together the route for this tour, definitely did things in the right order. Colonial Antigua (Guatemala) nestling under a ring of volcanoes kick -started things beautifully. We moved smoothly through the cultural gears, visiting vibrant Mayan markets and villages on our way to Mexico and when we saw our first Mayan ruin at Palenque, we knew we'd reached the edge of travel nirvanah. Completing visits to three more Mayan temple sites, with a couple of days R&R on a Carribean Caye, thrown in, the best was saved for last. Tikal was breathtaking. No words can truly describe its majesty. A superb tour combined with a top, top guide. Thank you for something exceptional.

Fulfilled my expectations as I had wanted to do this for the last 3 years.  But not without its share of 'incidents' - solved as usual by Exodus expertise.
