Where industry, history and biodiversity meet – Rainham Marshes is a former WW2 rifle range (still intact) and now a refuge for wildlife on London’s doorstep. More than 270 species of bird have been recorded on the site as well as 31 species of butterfly, 29 species of dragonfly, many other insects and a resident population of water voles.
With DAVE STEVENSON
Dave is a British photographer whose wildlife and travel images have been published all over the world, and in British titles including the Guardian, Lonely Planet Traveller Magazine, the Daily Mail and the Telegraph. His work takes in everything from big cats to huge primates, small lizards and everything in between, and he’s generally at his happiest when he’s somewhere too hot, too early in the morning, waiting for the perfect moment.
When he’s not perched in the back of a jeep waiting for something furry to prowl past he can be found leading photography workshops, writing for an audience of photo-mad enthusiasts and researching the next trip.
