Cycling Vietnam

Excellent trip

This was an excellent trip: tour group leader and support team were superb, hotels generally of a high standard, local restaurants serving really tasty food. The cycle routes for the first two days were rather dull and dusty but after that they just got better and better. Quite a lot of transfer time between cycles but because the temperature and humidity were so high, we were all appreciative of the cooling off time in the air conditioned coach. I think maybe at these temperatures (38C)the cycle rating should be a little more towards the difficult end of the spectrum. That said the back up team provided everything we needed - regular pit stops, plenty of rehydration, snacks (the fresh mango was to die for!) and even chilled wet wipes to the back of neck! Highly recommended.

Self-Guided Cycling in Portugal: Mountains to the Sea

Self-guided Cycling in Portugal - do it!

5
This trip was just incredible, beyond words! The scenery that we cycled through was so varied, from vineyards to mountainous regions to the wonderful sea, and even though some cycles were tougher than I thought, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The accommodations that we stayed in were lovely, especially the 17th century farmhouse - it was probably the most beautiful and characterful place I have ever stayed in before. You really get a sense of the 'real' Portugal on this trip, miles and miles (literally and figuratively) from the beach resorts of the Algarve.

Cuba: La Isla Grande

A great but tiring trip

4
This was a wonderful trip in that it gave us the opportunity to see a great deal of the island and learn a lot about its history. There was a lot of variety in the places we visited and the activities provided so that it was never dull. The downside was that there was a great deal of coach travel, especially in the first few days, which was tedious at times despite our guide's valiant efforts to break up the journey. Overall, I thought the holiday gave me a sense of the "real" Cuba so that I'd know what to choose to revisit if I were to return.

Cuba: La Isla Grande

Cuba - La Isla Grande

5
"IMAGINE" shouts the heading on a poster of Che Guevara alongside John Lennon, perhaps summing up Cuba as an island of contrasts. Just a few short streets away from the vibrant centre of Havana and you're in a different world of faded colonial glory, crumbling buildings and ruins, but the friendliness and hospitality of the Cuban people is a constant. This is an excellent trip if you want to see as much as possible of the island in a relatively short space of time. Yes, there is a lot of time spent on the coach but the trip notes prepare you for that, and it's necessary as there's so much to pack in, and there are several two-night stays which allow time for relaxation. We visited many towns and cities, met interesting people, learned a lot of fascinating history, and - despite what we'd been led to expect - enjoyed some great food and drink. There was a good mix of people in our group, we all got on well together and even the unseasonably cool and wet weather (we went at the end of Jan) failed to spoil our enjoyment of the trip.

Walking in Puglia & Matera

Puglia & Matera - April 2016

A really brilliant holiday which combines leisurely walking with very interesting sight seeing. The scenery is awesome particularly with the backdrop of some beautiful Italian villages and towns. Add the Italian cuisine and it would be hard to beat this trip.

High Passes to Everest Base Camp

HIGH PASSES TO EVEREST BASE CAMP (TNG)

I though I would be the only one finishing this trip, what with some bad food and respiratory issues, only 2 out of seven of us finished this trip. Apart from the points I have mentioned earlier I would like to stress that this trip is marked "TOUGH" that means you have to put some training in or you will struggle to complete this trip, your weekend country walks are not going to cut it.
